Create Account & Connect Wallet
A step-by-step guide to signing up for Polymarket using Email or Web3 Wallets.
Polymarket is built on web3 technology, but you don't need a PhD in cryptography to use it. There are two main ways to sign up: Email (Magic Link) or a Web3 Wallet (MetaMask, etc.).
Method 1: Sign Up with Email (Recommended for Beginners)
This is the easiest way. Polymarket creates a secure wallet for you in the background.
- Go to Polymarket.
- Click Sign Up in the top right corner.
- Enter your Email Address.
- Check your inbox for a login link from Magic.
- Click the link, and you're in!
Note: Your wallet is managed via Magic Link. You don't need to worry about private keys, but you should enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) for extra security.
Method 2: Connect Existing Wallet (Advanced)
If you already trade crypto and have a wallet like MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or WalletConnect.
- Click Sign Up or Login.
- Select MetaMask (or your preferred wallet).
- Sign the message in your wallet extension (this proves you own the wallet; it does not cost gas).
- You are now connected.
Setting a Username
After connecting for the first time, you'll be asked to set a Display Name.
- This name is public and appears on leaderboards.
- You can change it later in your profile settings.
Next Step: Funding
Now that you have an account, you need USDC (USD Coin) on the Polygon network to make trades.
